Neil Mellor continued his superb scoring form for Preston North End's reserve side against Blackpool at Deepdale on Wednesday.
The former Liverpool striker scored two in as many minutes to seal a 2-1 victory for Billy Barr's men which keeps them at the top of the Reserves league table.
Blackpool, skippered by North End favourite Michael Jackson, took the lead in the first half when Preston-born Simon Wiles neatly finished a right-wing cross from Andy Welsh.
Preston's confidence grew as the half went on and they got themselves on level terms just before the break.
Matt Hill burst down the left hand side before drilling a ball across the box which Neil Mellor fired home from ten yards.
And moments later North End were ahead when the same pair combined for the winner.
Hill beat Blackpool's Latvian keeper Pavel Steinbors to the ball and his header was converted by Mellor on the line.
The game provided vital run-outs for Michael Hart, Neal Trotman and Richard Chaplow.
