Neil Mellor continued his superb scoring form for Preston North End's reserve side against Blackpool at Deepdale on Wednesday.
The former Liverpool striker scored two in as many minutes to seal a 2-1 victory for Billy Barr's men which keeps them at the top of the Reserves league table.

Blackpool, skippered by North End favourite Michael Jackson, took the lead in the first half when Preston-born Simon Wiles neatly finished a right-wing cross from Andy Welsh.

Preston's confidence grew as the half went on and they got themselves on level terms just before the break.

Matt Hill burst down the left hand side before drilling a ball across the box which Neil Mellor fired home from ten yards.

And moments later North End were ahead when the same pair combined for the winner.

Hill beat Blackpool's Latvian keeper Pavel Steinbors to the ball and his header was converted by Mellor on the line.

The game provided vital run-outs for Michael Hart, Neal Trotman and Richard Chaplow.

Went to the reserves today and the outstanding player was Michael Hart,a no nonsense defender who looks to me like he will be ready for a place in the 16 for Saturday.

No more Dingles thanks we have one too many with Chappers thanks ctpne.

I would like us to get in 2 out and out wingers in teh summer. One foor the right and one for the left.

Chris Brown will score shedloads with quality crosses into the box and players who are notafraid or too slow to go past people.

must admit wade elliot did impress me, he werent afraid to get on the ball and run at us and he put some decent balls into the box.

Great to hear about Hart, cheers bexy. I reckon, when you look at the reserves we must have a pretty strong squad! I agree with Mr Harrison, two wingers would do it and if Mellor can get fit him and Brown would fire us to at least the play offs next year. Can't wait!!!!
