Manchester United youth star joins North End

Manchester United youngster Matt James is poised to join Preston North End on loan until the end of the season.
James, 18, will be PNE boss Darren Ferguson's second such loan signing from dad Sir Alex's club, following the arrival of striker Danny Welbeck last month.

He trained with the squad at Springfields on Monday afternoon and will officially join for 93 days when the loan window opens at midnight.

The Bacup-born central midfielder is in line to make his debut in Tuesday night's Deepdale clash with Sheffield United.

It is a sad testimony of modern football that we are now pinning our hopes on an untested 18 year old and Danny Wellbeck because our current crop of players are not men enough to stand up and be counted.

Although this is a good and welcome signing we need to be making classy permanent signings - what happens when we lose these 2 players at the end of the season??? Short term gain for long term pain...I hope I am wrong!

thats the middle two of midfield sorted - if both are any good.

will Ross be off to plymouth tomorrow? Tracey on Left is 3 of a 4 man midfield and Sedge NOT on right is 4th of that midfield that EVERYONE said hasn't performed all season!!!!!

Rev, does the lord agree with Idle Gossip? Ross is not going anywhere, he will partner well with James, I think we going to see a new Ross. Mawene for Captain, with Parkin/Mellor and Welbeck up front.
