Alan Irvine has carved his Preston North End squad in half to play local non-league sides Bamber Bridge and Chorley on Tuesday evening.
The matches will kick-off simultaneously at Irongate and Victory Park (7pm) with fans facing a difficult choice which fixture to attend.

Manager Irvine will be in charge of the team at Chorley where new signing Barry Nicholson will be amongst the players on show. Neil Mellor, who scored a hat-trick in North End's first pre-season game in Austria at the weekend will also face the Magpies partnering Brett Ormerod.

Assistant Rob Kelly will take the team against Brig with skipper Paul McKenna partnering Richard Chaplow in the centre of midfield.

Squad for Chorley: Chris Neal, Murphy, Anyinash, Jones, Mawene, Davidson, Sedgwick, Nicholson, Jarrett, Lewis Neal, Ormerod, Mellor, Appiah, Stott, Adam Barton.

Squad for Bamber Bridge: Lonergan, Hart, Smyth, Collins, St Ledger, Hill, Whaley, Chaplow, McKenna, Carter, Brown, Hawley, Turner, Fairhurst, Cudworth, Mayor.

why not play one today and one tomorrow .with the same split squad .more people would go and it would help the fans and the smaller teams .it would benefit the team and boost morale becuse all the players could attend and support each other?????????????

Simon Around 3 weeks ago Alan Irvine explained in great detail why he couldn't split days as you suggest - to do with it disrupting 3 days training for the whole squad.

Notice in one of the friendly squads the back line is missing a centre half (Smyth & Collins have joined SSl + 2 fullbacks in one squad) but the other seems to have Joe A @ RB with Billy in the middle- OR COULD A TRIALIST [late signing} BE LINED UP AS THAT SQUAD HAS ONE PLAYER LESS THAN THE OTHER ONE -even allowing for 2 keepers????

North End are running up the scores now, 11-0 v Nobody, now the mighty Bamber Bridge and Chorley. Who's next...not Morecambe by chance ?

Tell you what Northenders I reckon with AI at the helm,
we are all in for a treat this season. As opposed to the paupers down the M55, who I feel are about to return from whence they came. Toodle Pip lashers.
