Richard Chaplow saved Preston North End's blushes at Bamber Bridge with a cheeky goal 10 minutes from time.
Chaplow finished off a through ball from skipper Paul McKenna with a chip over the home keeper to give the Championship side a 1-0 win.

But it was another awkward night at Irongate for the professionals who lost there 6-2 in the same friendly fixture last year.

North End looked tired after two weeks of gruelling pre-season training.

And, had it not been for keeper Andrew Lonergan, Brig would have been a goal up in the 70th minute when Lee Pryers' rasping shot had to be beaten away from the top corner.

Preston could have finished 2-0 winners, but Karl Hawley found the woodwork with the last kick of the game, hooking a shot onto the top of the crossbar.

my own personal opinion is that it was a another good workout where the players where tested.would rather have a game like that than a cricket score like in austria where the goalkeeper and defence didnt have owt to do... roll on the blues

6-2 last year. 0-1 this year on such swings bob mckenzie and peter snow would be predicting north end to be champions league winners

some of you were thinking how great preston is when they beat the blind school in austria eleven nil .i said anyone can beat the blind .so now we have opponents with eyes The mighty Bamber bridge and how sobering is it to see only one scored .Please realize that our squad needs four premiership quality players to win the league .look at the team and it is so similar to the one that allmost got the drop .i say this objectively

No 2. If you are the fans panel bloke then Mr Ellis will know who you are. Seems a bit daft to say stuff like that.

it was good .but do we have the men to win the league .I mean if we dont get four good men to add to the team and they do win the league .It would be an amazing feat of personal and collective achievment .
