Bamber Bridge cast aside the horrors of their Saturday thrashing by Newcastle Blue Star with a spirited display and were unlucky to come away from newly renamed Stormy Corner empty-handed.
A crazy five minutes cost Brig against the early UniBond First Division North leaders.

Neil Zarac showed his pace to surge past Steve Brockley and cross via Alex Porter for Mike Mason to fire just over, while Jamie Nay set up Ryan-Zico Black, whose shot was turned away for a corner.

From Mason's corner, Zarac sent a free header over, while Danny Mahoney fired in from 30 yards but McMahon saved, who then denied Black with Porter poised to take advantage.

Zarac then blasted over, and Porter sent over an inviting cross but no one could get there.

Then came a key spell on 33 minutes as Georgie Donnelly knocked over a defender on the flank, dashed to the byeline and saw his ball parried to Aaron Turner, who netted.

Three minutes later Donnelly was given time and space in the box to square and Mark Houghton scored with a low shot that went in off a post.

On 38 minutes it was three as a wind-assisted punt from McMahon was spilled and Donnelly had the relatively simple task of netting.

Brig rolled their sleeves up with subs Mark Edmeads and Tom Ince adding a threat and on 49 minutes Porter curled a lovely free-kick into the top corner.

After near misses by Mason, Porter and Edmeads, twice, and close calls up field, a second Brig goal arrived after 69 minutes as Mahoney found Ince, whose cross was headed in by Zarac.

Chances followed at each end and Banks made a great double- save to deny Donnelly. And despite four added minutes, Brig's valiant efforts could not muster up a deserved equaliser.
