Watch police serving the closure order
Police have served a closure notice on a suspected drugs den in Preston.
Officers swooped on the flat at Maitland Street, Fishwick, at 11am on Monday.
Police believe visitors were attending the flat at unsociable hours to take drugs, causing a nuisance to neighbours.
The tenant, a 34-year-old man, has been told to appear at court on Wednesday, July 23, where it will be decided if the property will be shut down for three months.
One man was led out of the flat by police and warned he would be arrested under Section 4 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 if he returns.
PC Abid Majid, who led the five-strong police operation, said: "It's been a problem for the last six months or so.
"We executed a warrant and found drug paraphernalia and then we have come back today to put a closure order on to protect the community.
"The information came through Crimestoppers and then on the day of the warrant I spoke with the residents who were all elderly folk with disabilities.
"He (the tenant] was living smack bang in the middle and we thought we will put a closure order on it so they can have a bit of peace."
