Residents of a busy Preston street are being trapped inside their homes by lorries making deliveries.
Householders in Meadow Street, Deepdale, say they are fed up with heavy goods vehicles parking on the pavement outside their homes – leaving them stuck inside.
Now they are calling for something to be done before a pedestrian is killed or seriously injured.
Meadow Street boasts a number of businesses as well as a residential area, but there is little room for traffic to stop.
Robin Maudsley regularly has the doorway to his home blocked by a delivery lorry visiting a florists further down the street.
Mr Maudsley, who is disabled, said: "It's been a problem for years but is getting worse. They shouldn't be parking there.
"I've no objections to the businesses, but I do object to being unable to get out of my front door. We're putting our lives in our hands every time we leave the house."
He also had an altercation with a Dutch driver, who launched a four-letter tirade at the father-of-four after Mr Maudsley asked him not to leave the lorry on the pavement of the narrow street.
Meadow Street has parking restrictions including double yellow lines and waiting limits during the day, because the road is not wide enough to allow traffic to park down both sides.
Mr Maudsley believes installing bollards along Meadow Street would stop vehicles blocking the pavement for pedestrians and also make the road safer by keeping one half of the road clear for traffic.
A single bollard has been installed at the junction with East View, but this has been knocked down several times by heavy goods vehicles visiting the Pavilions Retail Park in Deepdale Road.
A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: "Engineers will be visiting Meadow Street in the near future to survey the affected area to see if there are any measures that need to be taken."
