We asked the Lancashire public what they think of the people's panel and how they would like Lancashire County Council to spend our tax money
Most Lancashire residents want an increase in council tax – according to a council survey.
Only 28% of residents said they want a freeze on the tax.
The views come from the latest survey answered by the Life in Lancashire panel, which consists of around 3,300 residents, who regularly respond to a range of council questionnaires.
Set up in 2001 by Lancashire County Council, the group, which costs £22,000-a-year to run, has answered more than 20 surveys based on topics such as road safety, climate change, waste and crime.
But critics have hit out at the scheme as a "meaningless vanity project" which is bypassing elected councillors.
Coun Geoff Driver, the Conservative group leader of Lancashire County Council, said: "Consulting people is never a waste of money but when you are putting it forward for a specific purpose which will have a big influence on our level of spending, I think it's meaningless."
