Writer from Buckshaw Village regales his travel adventures in book

David, who lives in Buckshaw Village, has released the first installment of his travel writing series chronicling his adventures with a backpack.

The first installment covers his Gap Year adventure in which he went of safaris across Africa, sold children’s books door to door in Australia and trekked through the forests of Fiji.

Celebrating his book’s release David said: “Seeing my book advertised on Amazon was a great moment - it was the first time it felt real.”

Since his gap year, David has worked as an English teacher at schools in Accrington, Southport and Bolton.

Working as a teacher has enabled him to combine his love of literature with his passion for travelling as he spends his summer holidays travelling the world.

Reflecting on the highlights of his gap year, David said: “Seeing a cheetah at full speed on the plains of the Masaai Mara is the moment that really stands out.

“It was incredible to see the speed at which that animal flew.

“More than the sights and places though, my book’s about the people I met along the way.”

The book mixes the humour of knocking doors on Ramsey Street, of Neighbours’ fame, with the romance of finding love in Syndey.

The challenges of sticking stickers on knickers for 14 hours a day with the adrenaline of zip-lining through South African forests.
