Six wounded veterans, on an epic 1,000 mile, 72 day expedition from Scotland to London, are due to arrive in Kirkham.

The veterans will be met by Kirkham Mayor and leader of Fylde Borough Council when they arrive at The Swan on Thursday.

The Prince Harry-backed charity, Walking With The Wounded, is currently running an expedition in the UK.

The Walk Of Britain is seeing six wounded veterans walk more than 1,000 miles through the UK throughout August, September and October, finishing at Buckingham Palace on November 1.

The walkers are meeting people in communities every day to highlight the determination of wounded personnel, and to raise awareness of the work that Walking With The Wounded is doing across the country to support the wounded back into independence through long-term employment.

CEO Ed Parker said: “We have been absolutely thrilled with the amount of folk who have turned out to support us as we have walked through their towns and cities.”
