Community groups can get help to care for local war memorials in a grants workshop hosted by Preston Remembers next Wednesday.
The project’s team are looking to audit, maintain, research and record all war memorials across the city, working with current and ex-service personnel, youth groups, parish councils, community groups and volunteers.
The War Memorials Trust is the main grant giving body for the care of war memorials across the UK.
Representatives are visiting Preston to deliver a workshop on the types of funding available and how to apply for it.
Coun John Swindells, Preston Council’s deputy leader, said: “As 2014 is the centenary of the First World War, the work and events of the Preston Remembers project will have significant meaning to many people. If you are thinking about carrying out any type of care on your local war memorial, this workshop will help you get the support to do it.”
