Work is set to start in March to provide a new traffic signal junction and access road to a development off Lytham Road in Warton.

The junction to the development on the south side of Lytham Road will be between the roundabout at the west end of Freckleton Bypass and the Mill Lane entrance to the BAE Systems site at Warton.

The new junction will also provide a crossing for pedestrians and cyclists, with the existing crossing nearby to be switched off when work starts.

Work will start on March 3 and is expected to take about 16 weeks to complete.

Graeme Leathard, principal highways engineer for Lancashire County Council, said: “Lytham Road is a very busy route and we’ve given careful thought as to how to carry out the work while keeping disruption to a minimum.

“Any work which affects existing lanes of traffic will be done outside of peak commuting times. We’re very keen to avoid significant delays to people’s journeys.”
