Work has started on a £600,000 new extension to a Preston car showroom.
Bowker Group expects to re-open its newly-extended Mini showroom on the city’s docklands in February and has taken three new staff to cope with demand.
The extension, built by Longridge-based construction firm Carefoot, will increase the showroom’s capacity from three to eight cars. Manager Tony Dillon said: “We opened the new Mini dealership in 2002 and since then we have grown steadily with thousands of customers and the extension reflects that growth.
“We will have one of the most advanced Mini showrooms in the country and we cannot wait to share it with our customers.”
He said customers would have access to an iPad, smart television technology and a specialised “Mini hub”, which will allow them to build a Mini from scratch.
The extension will also house an enlarged reception area, cafe and offer free customer broadband.
The family-owned group also has a BMW garage on the docks and Harley Davidson motorbike garage on Strand Road.
