Woman shot with taser

A woman, 20, was shot with a police Taser gun after she waded into a Lancaster river and began self-harming.

Police were called to Lancaster Train Station at 5.30pm on Wednesday after two women attacked two Police Community Support Officers.

One woman was detained but the other, ran off towards the River Lune.

A Lancashire police spokesman said: "Officers attempted to negotiate but she did not respond and for the safety reasons, Taser authority was granted."
