A woman has been injured after she was hit by a van.

The 77-year-old suffered a broken hip after being hit by a van on Wednesday afternoon.

At about 5.25pm, the woman was crossing King Street in Lancaster, near to the junction with Queen Street.

A collision then occurred between her and a silver Ford Transit van.

Temporary Police Sergeant Adam Dawson from the Lancaster Road Policing Team said: “The driver of the van is assisting us with our investigation but we need any witnesses who may have seen what happened to get in touch with us so we can establish exactly why this collision has occurred.”

The woman was admitted to Royal Lancaster Hospital were her condition is described as stable.
