A woman found dead in Longridge has been named as Julie Shaw.
The 34-year-old was found at around 3am on Sunday in a water filled quarry at Green Bank Park in Longridge.
Ms Shaw’s home directly adjoined the quarry with her front door being several feet away from a low boundary fence surrounding deep water.
It is believed that Ms Shaw, after returning from an evening with friends, slipped over in an unlit road and in poor weather conditions in what is believed to have been a tragic accident.
She is survived by her three young children.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “A post mortem examination carried out has revealed the cause of death to be drowning and the death is no longer being treated as unexplained but as non-suspicious.”
