A dog owner has been prosecuted for allowing her dog to roam off its lead on two separate occasions.

Lisa Rainford, 33, of Stanley Grove, Penwortham, was found guilty of breaching Dog Control Orders in October and November last year.

South Ribble Magistrates heard that Rainford’s dog was first found roaming off its lead unsupervised in Shaftesbury Avenue, Penwortham, on October 30, 2013.

Less than a month later on November 27, 2013, a member of the public informed South Ribble Council about the same dog roaming free in Clive Road, Penwortham.

After failing to pay the initial fines, Miss Rainford was taken to court and was found guilty in her absence. She was fined and ordered to pay costs plus a victim surcharge totalling £255.

Coun Peter Mullineaux, said: “We make no excuse for being tough on irresponsible owners who allow their pets to roam the streets, creating potential nuisance and danger for road users, pedestrians and residents alike.”
