LEP man appears in sketch with famous comedian
Famous funnyman Jimmy Cricket has enlisted the help of a manager at the Lancashire Evening Post for a comedy sketch.
Martin Hamer, the LEP's Digital Editor, performed opposite the Irish comedian in a scene dubbed The Worst Goalie in the World.
Jimmy, best-known for his wellies and catchphrases "come 'ere" and "…and there's more", is currently working on new material which he is testing out on a live audience near his home in Rochdale.
In the four-minute sketch, Jimmy plays the goalie, with Martin a presenter asking him questions about his goal-riddled career.
Jimmy says: "To be honest the goalie sketch exceeded all my expectations - it got big laughs from the start.
"I love sketches, especially when the interviewer talks to the idiot-type of character, which Tommy Cooper used to do to great effect in the 70s and 80s.
"I thought with the 'worst goalie in the world' I would get a lot of visual humour, what with the goalie garb and the pocket calculator, etc."
