Firefighters are warning Leyland residents after a spate of wheelie bin fires in the area.

A spokesman for Leyland fire station warned people to be extra-cautious after a number of incidents over the last few days.

One incident saw a blazing bin near to the Halifax bank on Hough Lane on Wednesday, July 13.

The spokesman said this was one of a number of bins next to a building.

He said: “If this fire had spread any further, it could have set the building on fire.

“People need to make sure they are keeping their bins secure until they need to be put out on bin day.”
