A Lancashire supermarket is to provide some festive cheer to lonely people with Christmas dinners.
Waitrose in Walton-le-Dale will be offering food, money, resources and volunteer time to help charities and voluntary groups put on a festive spread for folk who would otherwise be alone over the period.
The store is asking organisers of local Christmas dinner events to get in touch with the shop to see if they can help.
They will also be asking customers to think how they can help neighbours who might be in need of help over Christmas.
Waitrose community manager Tina Varns said: “Through our ‘green tokens’ initiative, our shops have been able to support such incredible work going on in communities across the country over the last five years - and we’ve learned first-hand how vital this support is at providing lifelines to vulnerable people. We’re excited about the difference the new campaign will make.”
