Get your skates on, it’s nearly Christmas!

Preston city centre has been transformed into a winter wonderland as residents and visitors alike gear up for the festivities.

The flag market has been transformed into an outdoor skate rink, with other attractions to keep young and old happy.

The official opening was marked by street performers Jacks of Frost causing mischief and Christmas fairies Sugar and Plum accompanied by a giant Christmas pudding.

Lancashire Youth Brass Band and Pathfinder Youth Choir played and sang seasonal favourites.

Alive with Christmas cheer, the traditional Christmas log cabins provide a feast of festive food and drink including a bar serving mulled wine and spiced cider alongside the usual tipples and mince pies.

There is also a selection of children’s fairground rides including ice road simulator, and a big wheel.

The rink will be open 7 days a week until 9pm with a slightly earlier closing time on Sundays.

Sessions will start on the hour allowing people to skate for up to 45 minutes.

The winter wonderland is part of a programme of Christmas events organised by Preston Council and the Business Improvement District.
