A charity challenge that took the world by storm, has managed to raise a grand total of £45,979.

After a homeless man in Preston came to the aid of UClan student, Dominique Harrison-Bentzen from Leyland, offering her his last £3 so that she could get home, the 22-year-old vowed to pay him back.

And after the story of her and a group of six friends spending the night on the street to raise awareness and funds went viral across the world, the money came pouring in.

Dominique said: “Words cannot describe how wonderful it feels that together we have successfully changed one mans life, and now together we can continue to change hundreds if not thousands.

“Every media piece, every comment, every share has enabled us to spread positive awareness all over the world.

“Maybe this has even affected millions of lives as I hope from this people learn to see the homeless in a different light.”

She added: “Although this fundraiser has closed, this is not the end.

“Continuing working with the homeless is key.

Decisions will now need to made, the priority is ensuring Robbie maintains safe and then ensuring that your money will be utilised in the most beneficial way.
