A popular county post office is to be given a makeover.
Cop Lane Post Office in Penwortham will be transformed into a new main-style open-plan branch with much longer opening hours for customers.
As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network and extend opening hours the new look branch will have three serving positions.
These will be a mix of two screened serving positions and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter, which will be available during shop opening hours.
Cop Lane Post Office will be closed for refurbishment from 5.30pm on Tuesday October 15 The newly modernised branch will then be open from 1pm on Thursday October 31.
Nearby branches will be happy to look after the needs of customers during the closure, including: Lostock Hall Post Office, 2-6 Victoria Terrace, Lostock Hall, Penwortham Lane Post Office, 222 Leyland Road, Penwortham, Preston.
Post Office Regional Network manager for Central England Adrian Wales said: “We understand how important Post Office services are to residents in Penwortham and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future. This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around half of the Post Office network converting to new-style branches and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
