A residential area is set to expand with the addition of another 80 new family homes.
Bloor Homes’s plans for mixed properties on part of the former Royal Ordinance site at Buckshaw Village have been recommended for approval.
The concept of building homes and commercial units on the site has already been given planning approval, with the latest application to confirm the details of the houses.
Proposals show three one bedroom, eight two bedroom, 11 three bedroom, 47 four bedroom and 11 five bedroom houses on a 2.8 hectare site, east of the A49 Wigan Road.
Twelve of the properties would be earmarked for affordable housing.
No objections have been received to the plans.
Recommending the scheme be approved, a new report advises councillors on the planning committee: “The principle of development on the site has previously been established by previous outline approvals.
“The proposed scheme reflects the character and appearance of the existing dwellings, with the proposal not considered to have a detrimental impact on the streetscene or the character of the area.”
The redevelopment of the old Royal Ordinance site was one of Europe’s biggest ever brownfields regeneration project.
The munitions factory sprawled over 350 hectares.
The Buckshaw Village development now occupies 170 hectares of the site.
South Ribble’s planning committee will vote on the scheme at a meeting in the Civic Centre in Leyland at 6pm tonight.
