Police have arrested a sixth person in relation to a stabbing in Preston city centre.

An 18-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after the attack in Lowthian Street, just behind The Black Horse pub, at 5pm on Monday.

Initially, five males aged between 13 and 25 were arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent, and on Tuesday afternoon a further 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of the same offence.

Police have been given extra time to question a 17-year-old boy arrested from the first cohort, and the other four have been released on bail.
