Homes in parts of rural Preston were left without water at the weekend.

United Utilities said some customers in the PR3 postcode area of the city had no water or a poor supply, from 10.30am on Saturday.

A message on the company’s website said experts were set to work through the night on Saturday to repair the burst water pipe in Garstang, and the engineers were back on site on Sunday morning to continue trying to fix the problem.

It said, due to the “complex nature” of the repair to the burst water main on Moss Lane in Garstang, engineers started works through the night on Saturday to cause “the least disruption to commercial customers in the area.”

Teams returned to the site on Sunday morning to carry on with the repairs.
