A bomb disposal team has removed an artillery shell from a building site in Clitheroe.

Police were called to Woone Lane in Clitheroe at around 1.15pm on Wednesday after workmen discovered a suspicious device.

A cordon was put in place at the site and builders were evacuated from the site.

At 5.30pm a spokesman for Lancashire Police said the corden was no longer in place and an artillery shell had been removed.
