Unexploded bombs found

A series of unexploded Second World War grenades were found in Kirkby.

The army bomb squad were called to Roughwood Drive after builders excavating the area discovered the devices.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "A series of controlled explosions will take place.

"Residents in the area have been alerted and the explosions present no risk to members of the public."
