Students braved the stage for their very own version of ITV’s dating gameshow Take Me Out.
Seven male students took to the stage to try and impress eight ladies enough for them to leave their lights on and choose them for a night out.
Three lucky lads were successful in getting a date with a girl at Preston’s answer to the Isle of Fernandos - Nandos!
Event organiser and Student Union campaigns officer Sophie Bennett said: “This is the fifth year we have held the Take Me Out event but for the last two years it has been running in line with the Sexual Health Awareness Week.
“It was a really successful event considering it was student reading week which means a decreased student population but we had around 250 audience members.
“I think it shows off the student talent we have at UCLan and that the students are up for a laugh and to raise some money for charity.”
Sophie added: “The planning of the whole event nearly killed me but in the end the audience and everyone who was involved was happy with how the event went.”
Comic host, Callum Oakley, a Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist back in 2012, kept the show running smoothly when a couple of the male contestants surprised the girls.
Sophie said: “One of the boys for his talent section came on stage in a maid’s outfit to the music, Man I Feel Like a Woman – I don’t think anyone knew how to react! Equally one of the girls on stage was a guy, Lee Mac, dressed in a dress and called himself ‘Lee-Anne’ which gave plenty of entertainment.”
On the evening £500 was raised for Preston Domestic Violence Services and there are plans by Preston Student Television, who filmed on the night, to turn their footage of the event into a programme.
