University lecturers in Preston have called off a planned two-day strike.
Lecturers at the University of Central Lancashire were due to strike today and tomorrow over plans to slash academic posts.
However, a joint statement by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and the University and Colleges Union (UCU) said an agreement was reached at a crunch meeting to call off the industrial action.
The statement said that although strike action has been avoided the dispute has not been fully resolved.
ACAS will now support both parties through conciliation in negotiating an agreed outcome, although this will not be via a formal arbitration process.
