Brian Lomax, of Penwortham, is currently in training for the 26-mile run which takes place on April 23.The 62-year-old, who works part time at Booths, in Penwortham, said: “I used to run regularly in my thirties and 40s but haven’t run regularly for over 15 years.“I’ve found the training quite difficult and have had a few setbacks with niggling injuries, but hopefully I’ve done enough training to successfully complete the London Marathon. “I know I will struggle, but I will do it. I will probably walk most of it - I have never claimed to be able to run it all.”Raising funds for the Lancashire Cat Rescue, which Brian founded with his wife Christine in 1994, will spur him on.The grandfather-of-two added: “We have to raise money ourselves. Our main source of income is from our flea markets and members pay annual subscriptions.“If we don’t raise funds, the charity would not exist.“Lancashire Cat Rescue is very important to my wife and I. Christine founded it having gained experience in cat welfare work while volunteering and working as co-ordinator for a national cat charity.“It started small initially with a dozen members and has now grown to having more than 200 members.“We have a small team of dedicated volunteers. No-one in the organisation is paid for their efforts, so we can honestly say that all donations go straight to the point of need, ie. helping cats, food, litter and veterinary care.”To support Brian and make a donation visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=BrianLomax1
