Tributes paid to 'truly lovely' motorcyclist killed in crash

John Marsden was killed as he travelled along Back Lane in Whittingham on Friday, March 10.

The 51-year-old father was fatally injured after his bike collided with a Ford Transit and he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, say police.

His family said in a statement today: "John will be sadly missed by so many. He was one of life's truly lovely guys. He was a top bloke, always had a smile."

A close friend added: "John to me was a most solid and dependable guy. Someone who I trusted on the other end of a rope in the most exposed and extreme situations imaginable."

Sgt Claire Pearson from the Road Policing Team said at the time: “A man unfortunately died as a result of this tragic incident and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this incredibly sad and difficult time.

“If you saw anything during or in the lead up to this collision, please make contact with us as it will no doubt assist us with our investigation.”
