WARM tributes have been paid to an elderly beauty spot volunteer who was knocked down whilst crossing a car park.

Eddy Weston, 71, from Ormskirk, was tragically killed on February 28 on the Wheatsheaf car park in Ormskirk.

The active pensioner was a volunteer at WWT Martin Mere and an active member of the Ormskirk Street Pastor group.

He is survived by his wife Pat and two sons, Andrew and David.

The family has expressed gratitude to people who helped Eddy at the end and who have since offered sympathy and support.

A memorial service was held by the Street Pastors and Father Boniface Moran on Friday at the site of the incident.

An ecumenical funeral service will take place at St Anne’s in Ormskirk to take into account Eddy’s involvement in Churches Together, an ecumenical group bringing together local churches. An additional memorial service will take place at Emmanuel Methodist Church.

Witnesses to the accident should contact Lancashire Police on 101.
