Transport boss lays out vision for Lancashire
Lancashire's new transport boss has laid out his vision to improve transport across Lancashire.
Among the reforms, Lancashire County Councillor Keith Young, the new cabinet member for Highways and Transport, is looking at introducing a Smart Card for bus travel across the county, which passengers would top up accordingly.
He said: "We are working all the time to try and get to a situation where we have a Smart Card which would enable you to travel seamlessly on buses throughout Lancashire."
The card would use the same technology as the passes which allows pensioners to travel throughout the country.
Coun Young told the Evening Post he is also ready to get
started on improving the effectiveness of the 2.5m park and ride on Bluebell Way with an improved ticketing system.
Plans to review the future of Leyland Station are also to be looked at in the near future.
The new County Council Cabinet will meet on July 9 to approve changes in the budget, which will free up an extra 9m to tackle the county's creaking roads.
