Woman, 62, serious after taxi collision

A 62-year-old woman is in hospital with “life threatening” injuries after colliding with a taxi while crossing the road.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision which happened in New Hall Lane, Preston in the early hours of today.

Officers say the woman was crossing over the road at around 12.20am near to the Texaco garage when she was struck by a Volkswagen Passat.

She suffered numerous injuries, including broken bones, and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

The road was closed for several hours whilst accident investigation was conducted.

Sgt Claire Pearson from the Road Policing Unit said: “This woman has suffered life threatening injuries and so we need anyone who may have seen this incident to come forward with any information.”
