An elderly man who was left trapped in a car following a crash on a busy Wyre road is in a “serious” condition in hospital.
The A6 at Bilsborrow was closed for several hours on Sunday while emergency services treated the pensioner, who is in his 70s, and cleared the scene.
The road has since reopened and an investigation is underway into the crash, involving two cars, which occurred at around 4pm.
Police said the man’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “We were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision, which was reported as an elderly man trapped inside his car.
“An elderly male in his 70s was taken to hospital. His injuries are a serious but are not believed to be life-threatening.
“An accident investigation team was at the scene and their work is ongoing.”
On Sunday night, police said there were no reports of anyone else being injured in the collision.
Motorists reported lengthy delays in the area, while emergency services attended several incidents on Sunday due to snowfall in parts of Lancashire.
