Traffic surveys are set to be carried out in Preston next week, to help justify further investment in roads and try to prevent future delays.
Lancashire County Council will be asking drivers about their journeys during the week beginning on June 2.
The information gathered will be used to underpin the business case for major improvements outlined in the Central Lancashire highways and transport masterplan, and supported by the City Deal.
Neil Stevens, strategic highways planning manager, said: “We’re sorry for the delays to people’s journeys as a result of these surveys, and very grateful for their patience while we carry them out.
“We can only justify making millions of pounds of investment in our transport infrastructure if we have the evidence to support it, which requires the collection and use of good quality detailed information about our highway network, and traffic data.”
