Morning commuter traffic on a busy route into Preston was held up today after a car hit a barrier and careered off the road.
The incident happened around 8.10am on the Longton Bypass at Hutton, near to the Lancashire Police headquarters.
It is believed the red Ford KA smashed into the central crash barrier and then swerved off the carriageway.
The vehicle was badly damaged in the collision, but it is not believed anyone was hurt.
Traffic was down to one lane past the scene for almost two hours, meaning delays for travellers heading into the city.
A police spokesman said: “As fas as we are aware there were no injuries.”
