The incident happened when a white Transit van has been about to turn right from Back Lane onto Cumeragh Lane in Whittingham.

Police say they think the motorcyclist has tried to overtake a flat back lorry which had allowed the Transit to turn and has lost control of the bike.

The motorcycle has then collided with the Ford Transit. The rider, a 51 year old man from Longridge, suffered fatal injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened at around 3.25pm on Friday, March 10.

Sgt Claire Pearson from the Road Policing Team said: “A man unfortunately died as a result of this tragic incident and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this incredibly sad and difficult time.

“If you saw anything during or in the lead up to this collision, please make contact with us as it will no doubt assist us with our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident reference 861 of March 10.
