Police appeal after girl falls off motorbike

It happened at about 12.45pm on Thursday when the 16-year-old, a passenger on the back of a green Kawasaki motorcycle, fell off the vehicle and landed on the opposite side of the road.

The bike had been travelling from Clitheroe to Preston on the A59 Whalley Bypass.

The girl was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with suspected broken bones, however it was found that her injuries were less serious than first thought.

Officers are still trying to piece together what could have caused the girl to come off the bike are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Sgt Claire Pearson from the Road Policing Unit said: “The girl was extremely lucky to have escaped from this with just cuts to her abdomen as it could have been much more serious.

“We need anyone who may have seen something to get in touch as they could have seen something that could assist with our investigation.”

The road was closed for an investigation to take place but was reopened two hours later.
