Lancashire police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road accident in Lancaster.

Joseph McNamara from Heysham was hit by two cars whilst walking on an unlit stretch of the A683 Caton Road, Crook O’Lune yesterday and died at the scene after sustaining serious injuries.

The collision happened shortly before 5pm yesterday when the 80-year-old man was hit by a Honda Jazz and a Hyundai Tucson.

PS Tracey Ward of the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with Joseph’s family and friends at this time. An investigation into how this collision occurred is underway and I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.”
