Pedestrian dies after collision with car in Preston city centre

A pedestrian has died a week after suffering serious head injuries in a collision with a car in Preston.

Police say 48-year-old Monika Brodecka died in the Royal Preston Hospital early today (Wednesday).

Officers have issued an appeal for witnesses to the collision which happened around 1.05pm on Wednesday August 2 at the junction of Ringway and Lawson Street.

Ms Brodecka, from Preston, collided with a Peugeot 3008. Ringway was closed for two-and-a-half hours after the incident.

PC Mark Potter, of Preston Police, said: “A woman has sadly lost her life as a result of this collision and our thoughts remain with her family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“We are now determined to piece together exactly what occurred and would like to speak to anybody who saw the incident and has not yet given an account to the police.

“If you know anything, please contact us as soon as possible on 101 quoting log number 642 of August 2nd.”
