Drivers using the M6 and M55 around Preston in Lancashire are being advised that overnight carriageway closures will be taking place on Friday (October 10, 2014) and during two nights next week as part of the £7m pinch point widening improvements.
The Highways Agency is widening the northbound carriageway of the M6 ahead of and through junction 32 at Broughton Interchange where the motorway meets the M55.
Tonight will see a full overnight closure of the M55 eastbound link road onto the northbound M6 between 9pm and 6am. A clearly-signed diversion will be in place with drivers seeking to join the northbound M6 advised to leave the M55 at junction 1 instead and use the northbound A6 to join the northbound M6 from junction 33 at Galgate.
The M55 eastbound link road onto the southbound M6 will be closed overnight – again between 9pm and 6am each night – on Monday October 13, 2014 and Thursday October 16, 2014. Drivers seeking to join the southbound M6 will instead leave the M55 at junction 1 and take the southbound A6 to the A5085 Blackpool Road and then the eastbound A59 to join the southbound M6 at junction 31 at Samlesbury.
