Lane closure on M6 near Preston after fire

One lane has been closed on the M6 southbound following a vehicle fire, say police.

The trailer of a milk tanker caught fire between between junctions 32 for Preston and 33 at around 4am on Monday, April 16.

Crews from Lancaster, Garstang and Fulwood attended the scene and were helped by the driver who had unhitched his cab.

A spokesman for NW Motorway Police said: A Lane one closure is in place due to a vehicle fire earlier.

"The milk inside of the vehicle needs transferring from one vehicle to the other.

"The closure will be in place for some time whilst this is completed."

All lanes reopened by 11am.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
