Four people escaped injury when a private jet overshot the runway at Blackpool Airport at lunchtime on Thursday.
The plane, carrying a pilot and three passengers, failed to stop in time after landing at the recently re-opened airport and ploughed nose first into a field beyond the boundary.
Firefighters were called to the scene, but all four people on board had vacated the aircraft when they arrived.
A police spokesman said: “Fortunately it wasn’t a major incident. The plane only just overshot the end of the runway. A local fire crew attended and we were kept informed.”
Blackpool Airport, which closed to commercial flights in October, has recently re-opened for small private planes.
