An elderly man has suffered head injuries after a city centre collision.

The man, who is believed to be in his 70’s, was in a collision with a bus at around 11.45am today in Parliament Street, Lancaster.

A female bus passenger has also sustained injuries and the road is currently closed as Lancashire police investigate the cause of the accident.

And the police warned people to expect some traffic disruption.

A police spokesman said: “A man in his 70’s was involved in a collision with a bus.”

“There was a female passenger on the bus with neck injuries.

“I would imagine there will be some disruption.”

The North West Air Ambulance was called to the scene but a spokesman revealed the man was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary by road.

They said: “We attended but a man was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary by an ambulance.

“He has suffered a head injury, it looks like only one person was taken to hospital.”
