A man was taken to hospital after his car collided with a tree.

Fire crews from both Preston and Bamber Bridge fire stations were called out to the incident outside the Bukhara Indian Restaurant on Preston New Road at Samlesbury on Saturday morning at around 1.30am.

On their arrival firefighters found the man in his vehicle on the side of the main road after it had struck a tree on the bend.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: “The man had suspected neck injuries so we were called out to assist with extracting him from the vehicle.

“We used our hydraulic machinery to cut the roof off his car before paramedics stepped in to take him away on a spinal board.”

The man was later taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

No one else is believed to have been involved in the accident.
