Train passenger guilty of carrying drugs
A train passenger who tried to distract a drugs dog with crisps has been convicted of possessing cannabis and ecstasy.
Sefton Haughton, 28, of Queens Road, Cheetham Hill, Manchester, was stopped by police at Preston railway station after the dog signalled he was carrying illegal substances.
He had tried to distract the pooch by throwing crisps on the floor, but to no avail.
Officers found bags of white tablets in his pockets and cannabis in his bag.
Haughton pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and ecstasy with intent to supply at Preston Crown Court and was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.
