Gritters will be patrolling and monitoring the main roads, salting as necessary from this afternoon to 7am on Friday morning.

Patchy rain is expected overnight with sleet and snow at higher levels.

Current delays include:

On the M6 northbound, between junctions J18 and J19, there are delays of 30 minutes caused by congestion due to an overturned vehicle, closing three lanes between junctions J19 and J20. Normal traffic conditions expected from 4.15pm. Delays on A59 Liverpool Road in both directions in Tarleton at the Bank Bridge junction, in the roadworks area. Congestion to the B5247 Carr House Lane junction.

Slow traffic on A6 Ring Way in Preston at the A6063 Church Street traffic lights junction.

A677 Higher Eanam / Copy Nook in Blackburn busy but moving at the Higher Audley Street traffic lights junction.
