Motorists suffered delays on the M6 at Lancaster on Thursday morning due to a broken down crane.
The entry slip road at junction 34 was closed for safety reasons after the crane suffered a puncture and electrical failure.
It happened at around 7.25am on the hard shoulder just beyond the end of the entry slip road.
Drivers were advised to join the northbound M6 at alternative junctions or use the southbound entry slip road to travel down junction 33 and join the northbound carriageway from there.
The Highways Agency is working to re-open the slip road as soon as possible.
